Update Dev 164

21 September 2026

This release is the ASIC extract import, rebuilt. The import now reads the document twice, once from its text and once from a scan, compares both against what the model extracted, and asks you a question wherever those readings disagree or the rules cannot settle the answer on their own. Former shareholders are reviewed as their own step with a cease date, and the wording throughout the review now says cease rather than close.

Highlights

  • The Import Asks Instead Of Guessing: Wherever the readings of an extract disagree, or a holder cannot be identified with confidence, the review now raises a question for you to answer rather than deciding quietly. Each question stands on its own, the footer names every control still waiting on you, and an import cannot be executed while questions are outstanding.
  • Former Shareholders Are Their Own Review Step: Every previous member an extract prints is now captured as printed and reviewed as its own step, with a cease date, and kept as the company's history. A former holding is only ever written under the holder you matched it to, an undecided identity is refused rather than guessed, and a holding is never dated from a document that merely recorded it while it was still current.
  • Scanned Extracts Are Read Too: A scanned extract is now read by the same parser as a text one, and the two readings are merged with the document's own text preferred. The company's own printed facts, including its numbers and its dates, are read this way, so an extract that is only a scan still yields the company header correctly. Where the text and the scan differ, you are asked.
  • Cease, Not Close: The review copy now says cease throughout, for a role and for a holding alike, including the cease date in the merge dialog and in the former shareholders step. A former shareholder the extract actually prints no longer raises a warning, and the warnings that remain read as a plain list.
  • Joint And Non-Beneficial Holdings Read Correctly: A holding is treated as joint only where the document prints it once for all its holders, a printed holding is counted once, and joint capital is not double counted. A holder named in a capacity, such as an executor, an estate or a trustee, is recognised as a person acting in that capacity. A non-beneficial former holding is imported through a placeholder holding trust.
  • What You Reviewed Is What Gets Imported: Closures and former shareholdings now execute exactly the plan your review stored, rather than being worked out again at import time. Missing co-holders, unsplit holders and disputed terms are reported instead of being silently resolved, and a holding recorded since your review is not written a second time.
  • A Company History Panel And Import History: A company now has a history panel showing what past extracts recorded, imports are dated, and Import History reports honestly when it cannot load, keeping what it already shows while it refetches.
  • One Rule For Identity: The import now has a single rule for deciding whether two names, companies or parcels are the same, used everywhere including the member history. A company answers to both its number and its name, a name written as one string and the same name split into parts are the same person, and correcting a former holder's address does not turn them into someone else.
