XPM Sync Hub — Setting Up a New Connection
The XPM Sync Hub (at /data/xpm-import) is the setup-only page for creating a new connection between a StructureGram group and a Xero Practice Manager group. This page is not about ASIC imports — it's specifically for linking groups with XPM.
Once a group is linked, all ongoing work — pulling updates from XPM, pushing changes back, and reconciling differences — happens from the XPM button on that group's card on the Groups page, not here.
Prerequisites
You need an active XPM connection for your tenancy before the Hub can be used. If XPM isn't connected yet, the Hub shows a banner pointing you to Account → Integrations. See Connecting to Xero Practice Manager for setup steps.
The three actions you can take here
The Hub asks you to Choose Workflow as Step 1 — one of the following three options. Each enforces eligible SG/XPM group combinations, so only valid choices are offered.
1. Import an existing XPM group as a new StructureGram group
"Import Existing XPM Group as New SG Group"
Use this when the client already exists in XPM and you want a fresh StructureGram group for them.
- Pick an unlinked XPM group from the list.
- StructureGram creates a new SG group for you and links the two.
- The flow then continues into the shared pull workflow to bring across the entities and relationships.
2. Link an existing StructureGram group to an existing XPM group
"Link an Existing SG Group to an Existing XPM Group"
Use this when both sides already exist separately and you want to connect them.
- Pick an unlinked SG group and an unlinked XPM group.
- The two are linked so you can pull from XPM and push to XPM going forward.
- The flow then continues into the shared pull/push workflow.
3. Export an existing StructureGram group to a new XPM group
"Export Existing SG Group to New XPM Group"
Use this when the client is already in StructureGram but not yet in XPM.
- Pick an eligible unlinked SG group.
- StructureGram creates a new XPM group for you and links the two.
- The flow then continues into the shared create/push workflow.
After a group is linked — work from the Groups page
Once any of the three flows above has linked an SG group to an XPM group, don't come back to the Hub for routine work. Instead, on the Groups page, find the group's card and use its XPM button. From there you can:
- Pull updates from XPM into StructureGram — see Xero Practice Manager Sync.
- Push changes from StructureGram back to XPM — see Push to Xero Practice Manager.
- Reconcile differences between the two — see XPM Reconciliation.
The Hub is deliberately scoped to setting up new connections; execution, review cards, share-class handling, and detailed summaries all live in the per-group XPM workspace.
Permissions
Linking and unlinking XPM groups requires the right permissions. See XPM Permissions by Member Role for the role-by-role breakdown.
Not for ASIC
If you're trying to bring in ASIC company extracts — uploading an ASIC PDF or using the ASIC Direct Feed — that's a separate workflow on the Import Hub, not this page.
