Group structure charts your legal team can rely on
An accurate chart of who owns and controls every entity in your group, refreshed from ASIC whenever you pull an extract, and ready for restructures, due diligence and the board. It works alongside the systems that hold your registers.
Where group charts let legal teams down
The chart is out of date when you need it
Someone drew the group structure in PowerPoint or Visio after the last restructure. Since then, entities have been added, directors have changed and a trust has been wound up. Nobody is sure which version is right.
Ownership and control questions take days
A regulator, a counterparty or the board asks who ultimately owns or controls an entity. Answering means reading registers and ASIC extracts and redrawing the chain by hand.
Restructures need current and proposed side by side
Acquisitions, joint ventures, wind-ups and trustee changes all need a clear before and after. Generic drawing tools make every version a separate file.
The register system was never built to draw
Entity-management systems are good at registers and compliance. Their charts are an afterthought, and rarely good enough for a board paper or an advice memo.
How legal teams use StructureGram
- Step 1
Bring the group in
Import your entity list from a spreadsheet export of your register, and pull Australian companies straight from ASIC. Officeholders and shareholdings come in for you, and duplicates merge.
- Step 2
Let StructureGram draw and check it
Every entity is laid out automatically. Each relationship is checked as you add it, for example for partner or asset ownership above 100%, or a company holding its own shares through a trust.
- Step 3
Answer the question in front of you
Show the structure as at any date, model the proposed restructure, or filter to the entities a counterparty needs to see. Export a board-ready PDF in minutes.

A chart that checks itself
StructureGram understands companies, trusts, partnerships and their relationships, and checks each relationship against rules like these as you add it.
- Partner and asset ownership interests cannot exceed 100%
- A company cannot hold shares in its own shareholder
- A company cannot hold its own shares through a trust
- A company cannot be trustee of a trust that holds its shares
- Only valid entity types can act as trustee
- Multiple share classes and rights tracked
- Off-chart third-party interests accounted for
- Active, dormant and deregistered status tracked
- Start and end dates on every entity and relationship
Ownership and control you can put in front of a regulator.
Refresh the chart with an ASIC pull
When a company in the group changes, pull a fresh ASIC extract. StructureGram shows you what is new before anything changes, then merges it into the existing structure. The chart matches the public register as at your last pull.
- Current or historical extracts, through a certified ASIC information broker
- Officeholders, shareholdings and share classes come in for you
- Review every change before it is applied
- Existing entities are updated, not duplicated
- No separate ASIC account to set up

Model the restructure before you advise on it
Build the proposed structure from the current one, without touching the record. Proposed changes are marked on the chart, and you commit each one to the record once the transaction completes.
- Unlimited scenarios from the same base structure
- Mark entities and relationships as proposed or removed
- Each scenario stays separate from live data
- Commit each approved change to the record when the transaction completes

Answer "as at" questions in seconds
Snapshots show the group exactly as it stood on any date, or everything in place across a period. That covers questions like "who were the directors at the time of the transaction?" or "what did the group look like before the restructure?".
- Point-in-time view of the whole group
- Show everything in place across a period
- Compare the group at different dates
- Directors, shareholders, trustees and beneficial owners over time
- Export historical views for audit and due diligence

Works alongside your entity-management system
Keep your registers, compliance calendar and resolutions where they are. StructureGram is the chart: the clear view of ownership and control that a register system was never built to draw.

Questions from in-house legal teams
Do we have to replace our entity-management system?
No. StructureGram works alongside whatever holds your registers today, whether that is an entity-management platform such as Diligent Entities, Athennian or Computershare GEMS, or a spreadsheet. StructureGram does not connect to those systems. Export your entity list to a spreadsheet, import it, and pull Australian companies from ASIC. StructureGram is developed by Syntaq Solutions Pty Ltd and is not affiliated with Diligent, Athennian or Computershare; their names belong to their owners.
How do we refresh the chart from ASIC?
You pull a fresh extract whenever a company changes, or before you rely on the chart. StructureGram shows what is different, you review it, and it is merged into the existing structure. Extracts are pulled on demand: StructureGram does not watch the register for changes.
Can we show who ultimately owns and controls an entity?
Yes. Ownership, trusteeship, directorships and control relationships are modelled side by side, through companies, trusts and partnerships. Filter groups give each audience its own view, such as ownership for a regulator or the full chain for a counterparty.
Can we model restructures and transactions?
Yes. Create scenarios from the current structure, mark entities and relationships as proposed or removed, and see them marked on the chart. Each scenario stays separate from live data, and each approved change can be committed to the record when the transaction completes.
Can we show the structure as it was on a past date?
Yes. Every entity and relationship can carry start and end dates. A snapshot shows the group as it stood on any date, or everything in place across a period, so you can compare the group at different times.
Is StructureGram suitable for sensitive corporate information?
Yes. StructureGram is developed by Syntaq Solutions Pty Ltd, an ISO/IEC 27001 certified Australian software company. Data is hosted in Australia, with role-based access controls, audit logs and encryption of sensitive fields. Our security whitepaper is available for your vendor assessment.
Can it handle a large group?
Yes. There are no limits on entity count or relationship complexity, and automatic layout handles groups of 500 or more entities with thousands of relationships.
