Individual Entities
Individuals represent natural persons in your structure. They can be family members, company directors and shareholders, trust trustees and beneficiaries, SMSF members, or partnership partners.
Required Fields
Every individual must have these fields:
- First Name: The person's given name (up to 100 characters)
- Last Name: The person's family name (up to 100 characters)
- Sex: Male, Female, or Unspecified (affects avatar display)
Optional Fields
Basic Information
- Middle Name: The person's middle name(s) (up to 100 characters)
- Date of Birth: Used for age calculation and avatar assignment
- Place of Birth: City, state, or country where person was born (up to 200 characters)
- Date of Death: Automatically sets status to "Deceased" (see Status Rules below)
- Notes: Free-form text for additional information (up to 5,000 characters)
Business Identifiers
- ABN (Australian Business Number): 11 digits (for individuals conducting business)
- DIN (Director Identification Number): 15 digits (required for company directors under Australian law)
- TFN (Tax File Number): 9 digits (stored securely, see Sensitive Data)
Sensitive Data: ABN, DIN, and TFN fields are optional but can be encrypted for secure storage. See Entering Sensitive Data for encryption options.
Status Rules
Individual status is automatically derived from the Date of Death field:
- Alive: Default status when Date of Death is empty
- Deceased: Automatically set when Date of Death has a value
Important: You cannot manually set status. To mark someone as deceased, enter their Date of Death. To mark them as alive, clear the Date of Death field.

Individuals can participate in these relationships:
As Owner/Holder
- Shareholder → Company (with percentage and share class)
- Unitholder → Unit Trust (with percentage)
- Partner → Partnership (with percentage interest)
- Ownership → Asset (with percentage and ownership method)
As Officer/Fiduciary
- Director → Company
- Trustee → Trust or SMSF
- Appointor → Trust
As Beneficiary/Member
- Beneficiary → Trust
- Member → SMSF (maximum 6 members per fund, with optional member balance)
Family Relationships
- Spouse → Individual (reciprocal relationship)
- Parent → Individual (reciprocal: child relationship)
- Child → Individual (reciprocal: parent relationship)
