Saved Diagram Settings

Context and Why This Exists

You may use the same Diagram Settings across many Ownership Diagrams. Repeating every display, Entity, Relationship, size, and spacing choice takes time and can produce inconsistent results.

Saved settings let your organisation keep preferred Diagram Settings and apply them to another Ownership Diagram when needed.

What the Feature Does

A saved setting is a named copy of selected Diagram Settings. It is:

available to everyone in your current organisation;
available across Groups and Ownership Diagrams in that organisation;
applied immediately to the Ownership Diagram you have open; and
independent from the diagram after it is applied.

Applying a saved setting copies its values into the current diagram. It does not permanently link the diagram to that saved setting. Renaming or deleting the saved setting later does not alter diagrams where it was already applied.

What Is Included

Saved settings include:

whether Assets, the legend, distributions, isolated Entities, and Relationship labels are shown;
whether ownership percentages appear on labels;
whether selected Relationships affect auto layout;
beneficiary grouping and SMSF member display choices;
Asset labels and Asset display mode;
Company trading names and Entity detail options, except TFNs;
Relationship display choices such as Hidden, As Link, and In Entity; and
the Diagram Settings controls for Entity width, height, and spacing.

What Is Not Included

Saved settings do not include:

TFN visibility;
the Snapshot date;
Scenario options;
the diagram's Entity Filter or Entity scope;
manually moved Entity positions or manually resized individual Entities;
edited link routes;
annotations or annotation visibility;
legend position;
your personal alignment-guide preference;
Styling colours and line styles; or
Auto Layout engine, routing, connector, and direction choices.

These items remain controlled by the current diagram, your personal preferences, or the organisation's Styling.

In brief:

Open an Ownership Diagram and select Settings.
Select the Saved settings button with the small two-slider icon at the top of the panel.
Select a saved setting to apply it.
If you have permission to manage saved settings, select Save current to create one.

Permissions and Availability

Everyone in the organisation can view and apply saved settings.

Only people with either of these permission levels can create, rename, or delete them:

Admin - Tenancy
Member - Group Admin

Saved settings are available on Ownership Diagrams. They are hidden while you are editing a Scenario because Scenario settings belong to that Scenario step.

Edge Cases and Expected Behavior

The button's tooltip names the saved setting when the current diagram matches one.
The tooltip shows Saved settings: Custom when the current Diagram Settings do not exactly match a saved setting.
Changing one included option after applying a saved setting usually returns the status to Custom.
A saved setting name must be between 1 and 80 characters.
Names are compared without regard to capitalisation, and duplicate names are not allowed.
Spaces at the beginning and end are removed, and repeated spaces are reduced when the name is saved.
A newly saved setting becomes available to other people in the organisation when their saved-settings list refreshes.

Troubleshooting (Q&A)

I cannot see Save current or Manage

You can apply saved settings, but your organisation permission does not allow you to manage them.

Ask an Admin - Tenancy or Member - Group Admin to create, rename, or delete the saved setting.

I cannot see the Saved settings button

Most likely causes:

You are editing a Scenario.
You are not viewing an Ownership Diagram.

Return to the Base Diagram or open a standard Ownership Diagram, then open Settings again.

Saved settings says Custom after I applied a saved setting

An included Diagram Setting has changed since the saved setting was applied. Open Saved settings and select the setting again if you want to restore it.

Applying settings did not change the diagram

The current diagram may already match the saved setting. If you see Saved settings could not be applied, check your connection and try again.

Best Practice

Use names that describe the purpose, such as Board and control, Ownership only, or Assets hidden.
Keep a small set of organisation-wide standards rather than many near-duplicates.
Apply the saved setting before manually arranging Entities and editing link routes.
Treat saved settings as display standards, not as a replacement for diagram scope, Styling, or Auto Layout choices.
